Mark Cuban On Difficulties of Resuming NBA Season
What seems like a long time ago now, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was all for resuming the NBA season ASAP.
Since, Mark Cuban seems to have realized what all top-level sport has realized: It’s not that easy.
There may soon become a point where it is considered safe to play games. Given that a number of teams have reopened their facilities this week, that point looks closer.
However, given that it will have to return behind closed doors and the restrictions on training, what kind of NBA will return? Will it be something that the fans want to watch? Will it be something that players and coaches will be proud of? Will it be something that TV executives get excited about?

Then, there are the moral concerns. Should team personnel be asked to put themselves at risk to save a lot of money and entertain us?
“Seriously. If you’re a player, who do you trust with your life?” Mark Cuban said.Â
“If you’re a coach or a trainer or, anybody for that matter, that’s essential personnel for getting something back together, do you trust the hotel that we’re going to stay at to keep everything safe — the technology they’re using, the protocols they’re using?
“Who do you trust with your life?” Cuban repeated. “That’s a big question to ask somebody, but we all make decisions like that every day. Do you stay in? Do you go out? What do you do? Where do you go for your groceries? All these things, how do you do it?”

One person who echoes Cuban is Blazers star CJ McCollum, who asked if it would be worth playing again with so many restrictions.Â
“I get the measures [the league is] taking. But you have to think at some point when there are drastic measures that need to be taken, ‘Is it really worth it?’ It’s either safe or it’s not.”
