Logan Ryan remains piece all contenders should consider
Logan Ryan didn’t mince words.
On Thursday, the versatile corner, two-time Super Bowl champion and current free agent went on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football to talk about his situation.
“The Jets, it makes a lot of sense. I’m from the area, I went to Rutgers, 20 minutes from there. So I’m familiar with New Jersey, I’m blue-collar, that’s how I grew up. I came out of Rutgers in the third round to New England and had to do my job and I continue to do that. That would make sense for sure.
“But like I said, I’m trying to what’s best for my family and everything like that. Obviously, there’s a lot of rumors out there. I can’t confirm any of it because I’m obviously still not signed yet. We’ll see. I obviously want to get a deal done whenever, and I’m open to it. So we’ll what happens there. But I’m also open to pretty much 30 other franchises, except the Titans. I’m completely open for business.”

Why Ryan remains on the open market is a mystery. Perhaps his initial asking price was too hefty and other corners signed, gobbling up most of the available cap space for his services. Maybe he’s simply been choosey about where he’d like to end up, something worth considering for a man already rich off his second contract and with rings on his fingers from his days with the New England Patriots.
Looking around the league, there’s myriad fits. The Kansas City Chiefs have to be tops among them. Kansas City has Bashaud Breeland, Charvarius Ward and Rashad Fenton plugged in as starters at corner. Breeland is facing a potential four-game suspension, and while Ward is solid and Fenton promising as a second-year player, Ryan would undoubtedly be an upgrade to that room.

Another team to consider? The Seattle Seahawks. Seattle is a contender and should be attempting to shore up its secondary, which is far better at safety than corner. The Minnesota Vikings also went through an offseason in which it lost Xavier Rhodes, Mackensie Alexander and Trae Waynes, replacing them with first-round pick Jeff Gladney. Ryan would add a veteran presence to a young room.
Eventually, Ryan will make his choice. When he does, one team will be getting an underrated star.
