James Harden would like to play for Nets for two years
The Houston Rockets have continued to implode internally over the last several days. Among those concerning issues has been All-Star guard James Harden requesting a trade that has turned everything upside down. Harden reportedly has an interest in joining forces with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving with the Brooklyn Nets.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the star guard only desires to do that for the next two seasons.
James Harden can become a free agent in 2022 if he opts out of the final year of his contract — and sources said Brooklyn represents a two-year play to win a title before deciding on the next steps in his career.
James Harden is currently in the second year of his four-year, $171.1 million deal, including a player option for the 2022-23 season worth $47.3 million. Although he would be turning down nearly $50 million, Harden is likely confident he can earn much more than that on the open market.

The opportunity to play with Durant and Irving over the next two years before free agency is highly intriguing. The situation will require him to make some significant adjustments to his playing style but could offer him his best chance to compete for an NBA title.
The Nets have been extremely aggressive toward working out a trade this offseason. However, the Rockets have placed a high price tag for their star point guard. With there being just a couple of weeks before the start of training camp on Dec. 1, things could shift into high gear.
