NFL Week 17 odds: 5 best bets for underdogs

With only Week 17 remaining in the 2020 NFL regular season, we look at five underdogs who can make you some money this weekend.

5. Denver Broncos (+2.5) vs. Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders are arguably playing the worst football in the NFL outside of Jacksonville. Las Vegas was 6-3 and now is simply trying to avoid a losing record. Of course, the same scenario played out last year, and it was Drew Lock and the Broncos winning in Mile High. Expect the same, because while Denver isn’t good, the difference between the two teams isn’t much at the moment.

4. Chicago Bears (+5.5) vs. Green Bay Packers

Green Bay should win because wrapping up the No. 1 seed is huge. However, the Bears understand they likely need to win or be bounced from the playoff picture. Chicago is 8-7 and a victory nets it at least the No. 7 seed and possibly the No. 6, depending how things go with the Rams and Cardinals. Chicago has won three straight and while Mitch Trubisky isn’t great, he’s playing the best ball of his season.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers (+9) at Cleveland Browns

This is a big line, even with Mason Rudolph getting the start. It’s unclear how many starters will play for Pittsburgh (if at all) and whether the Steelers plan to leave them in the game for any real length of time. That said, the Browns are dealing with an ongoing COVID mess, and so you begin to wonder exactly how it’s going to play out. After all, Cleveland just got trounced by the New York Jets

2. New York Jets (+3) at New England Patriots

Speaking of the Jets, they look to finish the season with a three-game winning streak after starting things off at 0-13. New York is shockingly playing competent ball as of late, while the Patriots are both offensively inept and ravaged by injuries. Look for Sam Darnold to be comfortable in the pocket and have a good game, while the Patriots are just begging to hit the golf course.

1. Miami Dolphins (+2) at Buffalo Bills

Why do we believe the Bills are going to play hard and/or start their stars in this one? With the Steelers sitting Ben Roethlisberger, Buffalo likely follows suit knowing it has the No. 2 seed in its grasp. Meanwhile, the Dolphins have to win or they’re going to miss the playoffs despite coming into the week at 10-5.
