Tom Brady Snr Reveales Quarterback’s Parents’ Covid Struggle

Tom Brady is preparing to crown a career that was previously thought to be un-crownable in an NFL great career.

February 7th will be his tenth Super Bowl appearance, and if he wins he will have seven rings. All the more impressive is the fact that he is doing this at 43 years old.

As well as that, Tom Brady has done the unthinkable this season. After 20 years at the New England Patriots, he changed teams. To change teams after so long and win the Super Bowl in his first season (the pandemic season) would perhaps be his greatest ever achievement.

What we didn’t know about Tom Brady in 2020 was that he was more personally affected by Covid-19 than most. Via ESPN, Tom Brady senior revealed on Monday that both he and his wife were hospitalized with the virus.

The revelation puts Brady’s early season struggles to adapt to the Tampa Bay playbook in a new light. That would have been enough of a challenge on it’s own without worrying about your parents.

“When the season started this year, I was in the hospital with COVID for almost three weeks and my wife was sick with COVID at the same time,” said Brady’s father.

“We didn’t even see the first two games of the year. It was the first two games I ever missed of his career because I was sick as a dog and my wife was as sick as a dog.

“We’ve never missed a game at Michigan or New England or wherever. For the first two games, when I was in the hospital, I didn’t even care if they were playing, much less missing the game. It was a matter of life and death, just like anybody who goes to the hospital. That’s serious stuff.”
