Rockets plan to part ways with veteran center DeMarcus Cousins
After missing a lot of time due to injuries over the past few years following a devastating Achilles injury, DeMarcus Cousins was thought to have finally have found a long-term home in the NBA with the Houston Rockets. Cousins signed with the Rockets after failing to play one game with the Los Angeles Lakers last season.
Unfortunately for Cousins, the promising future with the Rockets wasn’t meant to be. Houston now plans to part ways with the veteran center. They aim to go back to playing a small-ball style, according to Sham Charania of The Athletic.

The Houston Rockets and center DeMarcus Cousins are planning to part ways in coming days, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Houston wants to go smaller, younger in frontcourt when Christian Wood returns and this allows Cousins to find an opportunity elsewhere.

The 30-year-old will now have to once again look for a new team to continue his playing career. He may not have to wait long for a new opportunity as plenty of contending of teams may express interest in the newly available veteran big man.

One option is returning to the Lakers. There was mutual interest in Cousins returning to Los Angeles during the offseason. However, they decided to go with the more attractive options in Montrezl Harrell and Marc Gasol.
With Anthony Davis now on the mend, the Lakers could jump at the opportunity to bring back Cousins to fill the void in the paint and give the team another versatile threat at the position.
In 25 games for the Rockets this season, Cousins averaged 9.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game while shooting 33.6 percent from deep.
