Super Bowl 56 odds: 5 best values
With the crux of NFL free agency behind us, let’s take a look at the current Super Bowl 56 odds and which teams are good values.
5. Minnesota Vikings (40/1)
Let’s start with the long shot of the group. Minnesota didn’t make the playoffs last year and has spent much of the offseason trying to build up the defense by signing safety Xavier Woods, cornerback Patrick Peterson and defensive lineman Dalvin Tomlinson. Factor in the offense taking a step forward behind the trio of Dalvin Cook, Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson, and perhaps Minnesota makes a big move. The Vikings are an underdog, but after all, we’re talking about value.
4. Seattle Seahawks (22/1)
Many will point to the NFC West bring a proverbial meat grinder, and fair enough. However, the Arizona Cardinals added a litany of old veterans after going 8-8 and the San Francisco 49ers are fixing to start a rookie quarterback. Seattle won the division last year and has a good shot to do so again. The Seahawks still have Russell Wilson, retained edge rusher Carlos Dunlap — who completely changed the defense last year — and added guard Gabe Jackson. This is a really good team.

3. Los Angeles Chargers (30/1)
Here’s the first of our two AFC teams. The Chargers are a tough bet because to host a playoff game, they likely have to win the AFC West. Not going to be easy with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the division. Still, Justin Herbert looks like a superstar and the offensive line got some major reinforcements in free agency with All-Pro center Corey Linsley and guard Matt Feiler. Los Angeles is a fun bet to make the playoffs and get hot.
2. Cleveland Browns (25/1)
Last year, Cleveland almost made it to the AFC Championship Game. The Browns won their first playoff game for the first time since 1994, finally found a head coach in Kevin Stefanski and now return star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. from a torn ACL. In free agency, the front office did a nice job giving the defense help with safety John Johnson and corner Troy Hill, both coming over from the Los Angeles Rams. The Browns have real potential.

1. Green Bay Packers (9/1)
It’s weird putting the team with the second-best odds on the value list, but the Packers make sense. Aaron Rodgers is the reigning MVP and has the same cast around him. Green Bay was the No. 1 seed last year and the No. 2 seed in 2019. This is a team banging on the door and unless you’re a huge believer in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers repeating, they’re the favorite to reach the Super Bowl from the NFC.
