2021 NFL Draft: 5 NFC teams to watch for trade

The NFC is loaded with quality contenders, but can one of them make a big trade in the 2021 NFL Draft to jump further up the ladder?

5. Washington Football Team

This is one to watch very closely. Washington has the makings of an interesting team after adding Curtis Samuel to the wide receiver room this offseason. The defense is already a quality unit led by a front seven featuring Chase Young, Jonathan Allen and Da’Ron Payne among others. If the Football Team can find a quarterback in the 2021 NFL draft to compete with Ryan Fitzpatrick and ultimately overtake him, that would be a huge development for the defending NFC East champs.

4. Chicago Bears

No team is under more pressure than the Bears entering the NFL Draft. Another season with some modicum of postseason success, and it’s likely all over for general manager Ryan Pace and head coach Matt Nagy. Chicago desperately needs someone to supplant Andy Dalton if Chicago is going to make a push to dethrone the Green Bay Packers atop the NFC North.

3. New Orleans Saints

For years, the Saints had quarterback covered with Drew Brees. Brees  is now heading into retirement and the TV booth. As a result, New Orleans general manager Mickey Loomis has to considering being aggressive. The Saints have plenty of draft picks is they want to package a few and move up for a quarterback. If New Orleans sees someone such as Trey Lance or Justin Fields fall a bit, would Loomis try to make a serious move? Seems very possible.

2. Detroit Lions

Now we get to a few teams who could move back. The Lions might need more on their roster than any other team in the league. If Detroit is getting offers from teams (like New Orleans) who are trying to move up for either a  quarterback or even one of the top receivers or corners, first-year general manager Brad Holmes would have to listen. There might not be another team that has more trade-back potential than the Lions.

1. Atlanta Falcons

At No. 4 overall, the Falcons are on one of the most intriguing positions this draft has to offer. We know the Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers are all going with quarterbacks in the first three picks. As for Atlanta, do the Falcons select tight end Kyle Pitts or field what is sure to be a bevy of calls? The Falcons have needs across the board, and landing a boatload of picks to move back would be enormous in that regard.
