Buccaneers QB Tom Brady to shed knee sleeve for first time in 14 years

As Tom Brady heads into his 22nd NFL season, he has experienced continued improvement in his health.

The 44-year-old is working through the offseason after undergoing surgery to repair a torn MCL that bothered him over the last year. It’s allowed Brady to get on the field without the necessity of a knee sleeve, which is something he hasn’t done in the last 14 years.

“For the first time in 14 years, I don’t have to wear a knee sleeve,” Brady said via Carmen Vitali of Buccaneers.com.

It’s a new norm for the seven-time Super Bowl champion that speaks to his promising health. The fact that he can shed the knee sleeve shows that he will have more mobility on the field in the 2021 campaign.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will continue to monitor the situation, but it’s an encouraging step forward. Brady will remain the critical piece to the puzzle pushing the franchise toward competing for another Super Bowl.

His health will play a critical part as he’s continued to play at an MVP-caliber level. The Buccaneers will need that from him in 2021, especially with the plethora of talent around him.

Tom Brady has an entire season under his belt in head coach Bruce Arians’ offense. As well as that, his first entire training camp. That, coupled with his improved health after taking care of a lingering leg injury, should allow him to better perform next season.

The pieces are in place for the Buccaneers to make a serious push toward capturing a second straight Super Bowl.
