Colts owner Jim Irsay doesn’t want Carson Wentz to rush back
Over the last couple of weeks, the focus around the Indianapolis Colts has centered on quarterback Carson Wentz’s health.
The former Pro Bowler is working his way back from foot surgery that can keep him off the field between 5-12 weeks. The Colts remain hopeful Wentz can return by Week 1 action against the Seattle Seahawks.

Team owner Jim Irsay recently chimed in on the situation as he voiced that he holds tremendous faith that Wentz will be back in the fold shortly.
“I know he’s such a competitor and wants to be there for his team,” Irsay said via ESPN. “But he has to help by only coming back when he’s ready because we want to see him healthy for two months and two years and four years and do those things that you see the great players at the Hall of Fame (do). They’re there because they can stay on the field and Carson does everything he can to stay on the field.”

Although the Colts are optimistic about an early return, the team wants Wentz back when he’s fully healthy. He’s dealing with a recovery that holds a wide-ranging time frame to heal completely.
Indianapolis wants to avoid a setback at all costs to move forward to see if Wentz can be the franchise cornerstone under center. In other words, it’s a touchy situation that the team will continue to monitor closely over the next few weeks.
Until then, the team will have to exercise plenty of patience as Wentz recovers.
