Carmelo Anthony: Let’s Go Win
Carmelo Anthony is one of a troupe of high-profile veteran superstars signed to the Lakers roster ahead of next season.
When an elite, experienced pro joins a new team, they often expect – demand – to have it all their own way. However, in the case of the Lakers, it looks as if the opposite is happening.
When every guy on the team has the same status as you, egotistical behaviour is almost pointless. Every player the Lakers signed went to LA for the same reason – to win.
At this stage in his career, Carmelo Anthony (37) is prepared to do whatever it takes to do just that.

For 19 NBA seasons, Anthony has been a starter most of the time. Last year was the anomaly, when he played 69 games for the Blazers, but only three from the start.
“At this point, man, whatever we need to do, let’s do it,” Carmelo Anthony said.
“It ain’t … ‘I can’t sit,’ and, ‘Oh, I want to start,’ ‘I want to come off the bench.’ Whatever it is, it is.
“I’ve had experience being a starter for 18, 17 years and had an experience of coming off the bench for one year,” Anthony said. “It’s not something I think about.”
Head coach Frank Vogel has to get it right when he composes his new roster. As yet, he isn’t set on any particular approach.

“When we spoke before he signed here, I told him that I envisioned a big role on this team,” Vogel said. “I don’t know what that’s going to look like, whether he’s going to start, whether he’s going to come off the bench, but that he’s going to be a factor for us.”
“I’m still able to do what I do, man, at a high clip,” Anthony said. “But the No. 1 thing, I’m still passionate about it. I haven’t lost my passion. My love for game is, I think now, at an all-time high.
“Whatever he wants, let’s do it. I’m not even trippin’ about that at this point. Because let’s go. Let’s go win.”
