NFL Week 5 games: 5 QBs primed for huge games
Looking over the NFL Week 5 games, these five quarterbacks have the best chance to put up huge numbers for their teams.
5. Sam Darnold, Carolina Panthers
The Panthers get the Philadelphia Eagles in Charlotte this weekend. While Philly’s front can cause problems for Darnold, its secondary is limited. Carolina should be able to throw outside with D.J. Moore and Robby Anderson matching up well against the Eagles’ zone. Darnold has been one of the league’s most-improved players this season, and that’ll continue on Sunday.
4. Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans
After losing to the New York Jets, the Titans will be hungry to get back in the win column against the winless Jacksonville Jaguars. Tannehill should be in position for a great game as A.J. Brown is practicing and looking to play after missing Week 4. For the Titans, losing to Jacksonville is a non-starter if they’re going to contend in the AFC, and beating the Jags begins with Tannehill.

3. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
Allen is going to likely be in a shootout this weekend with the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. While the Chiefs have one of the league’s top offenses, they also have one of the worst defenses. The unit has been pathetic in almost every metric including third down, total yards, red zone and sacks. Allen should have a big day throwing to his trio of pass-catchers in Cole Beasley, Stefon Diggs and Emmanuel Sanders. If the Bills don’t turn the ball over and protect Allen, he’ll put up huge numbers.

2. Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings are 1-3 and need to win. Luckily for them, they’re playing host to the Detroit Lions, who are one. of two teams with an 0-4 mark. Minnesota will rely heavily on its offense to pull through, especially after the unit could only muster seven points last weekend against the Cleveland Browns. Quarterback Kirk Cousins has been very good this year and has a duo of elite receivers in Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson. Expect Minnesota to get its offense back on track.
1. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
The Packers draw the Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium this weekend, and while the hosts are 3-1, their defensive talent isn’t overwhelming, particularly in the secondary. Look for Rodgers to find his targets early and often, especially star wide receiver Davante Adams and slot man Randall Cobb. Green Bay might also be giving up some posting to the Bengals’ potent attack, which means more attempts and stats from Rodgers throughout the afternoon in the Queen City.
