NFL Week 6 odds: Making the case for each underdog
With the NFL Week 6 odds out to the public, we look at why the underdogs can cover and in some cases, outright win.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-7) at Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia is at home on a short week, getting the injury-riddled Bucs’ defense. The Eagles can get some big plays here and cover.
Miami Dolphins (-3.5) at Jacksonville Jaguars
The Dolphins are starting a backup quarterback with the worst offensive line in football. A few turnovers and Jacksonville could break its 20-game losing streak.
Cincinnati Bengals (-3) at Detroit Lions
The Lions have been incredibly close to winning twice this year. There’s a chance they beat the Bengals, who are a shaky 3-2.
Green Bay Packers (-4.5) at Chicago Bears
The Packers are without a litany of defensive starters and the Bears have a defense that can make life tough for Aaron Rodgers behind a middling offensive line.
Houston Texans at Indianapolis Colts (-10)
The Texans have been fighting all year, save the mess against Buffalo. Houston should be able to throw a bit against Indy’s secondary.
Kansas City Chiefs (-6.5) at Washington Football Team
Have you seen the Chiefs’ defense? It’s a race to 50 points.

Los Angeles Chargers at Baltimore Ravens (-3)
The Chargers are the slightly better team. This should be a close game, so taking the points is the wise move.
Los Angeles Rams (-10.5) at New York Giants
It’s a cross-country trip for the Rams and a huge spread to cover. Tough to see New York winning, but staying within 10 points is reasonable.
Minnesota Vikings at Carolina Panthers (-1.5)
The Vikings can climb back into the playoff race with a win. Also, Sam Darnold has thrown five interceptions over the past two weeks.
Arizona Cardinals at Cleveland Browns (-2.5)
The Cardinals are the only unbeaten team in the league and they’re getting points.

Dallas Cowboys (-4) at New England Patriots
New England has a good enough defense to slow Dallas down. The question is whether rookie quarterback Mac Jones can make a few big plays to cover.
Las Vegas Raiders at Denver Broncos (-3.5)
This is a brutal week for the Raiders after the Jon Gruden fiasco, but perhaps the players come out determined to put the ugliness behind them.
Seattle Seahawks at Pittsburgh Steelers (-4.5)
The Seahawks saw some good things from quarterback Geno Smith when he replaced Russell Wilson on Thursday. If he can play near that level, the Steelers are very beatable.
Buffalo Bills (-5.5) at Tennessee Titans
The Titans have a ton of weapons, and the Bills are due for a bad game. Tough spot for Tennessee, though.
