NFL Week 7 schedule: 5 QBs primed for huge games

With the NFL Week 7 schedule kicking off on Thursday night, we look at five quarterbacks set for big games come the weekend.

5. Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals

Murray has been tremendous this year, and now the Cardinals welcome in the 1-5 Houston Texans. Arizona remains the lone unbeaten team after pummeling the Cleveland Browns last Sunday and Murray’s play has him in the MVP conversation. The former No. 1 overall pick has thrown for 1,741 yards with 14 touchdown passes against only four interceptions. Look for him to torch a lousy Houston team in his own building.

4. Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams

Stafford gets a tremendous opportunity to both get revenge and pad his numbers this weekend when his former team, the Detroit Lions, come to town. Through six weeks, Stafford ranks first in yards per attempt (9.2) and QBR (75.0) while sitting fourth in yardage (1,838). Against the winless Lions, Stafford should be able to find receivers Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods with ease, putting him well over 2,000 yards while perhaps getting Los Angeles to 6-1.

3. Derek Carr, Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders are trying to take the lead in the AFC West with a win over the Philadelphia Eagles this weekend. Philadelphia has been burned by a litany of top quarterbacks this season including Dak Prescott, Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady. While Carr isn’t on that level, he’s playing phenomenal ball this year, only trailing Brady in passing yardage with 1.946. He should have a big day against the Eagles at Las Vegas.

2. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

Rodgers is playing at Lambeau Field against the Washington Football Team, which possesses one of the worst pass defenses in the league. While Washington’s pass rush could be a problem for the beat-up Green Bay front, Rodgers is going to torch the secondary, which is both inexperienced and lacking top-end talent. The Packers should get a big day out of Rodgers and receiver Davante Adams in front of the home fans.

1. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

Mahomes had a tremendous second half in Week 6, leading Kansas City to a 31-13 win over Washington. Now, the Chiefs invade Nashville to visit the Tennessee Titans, who are hurting in the secondary with corners Kristian Fulton and Caleb Farley both out. Mahomes should go berserk with receivers Tyreek Hill and Mecole Hardman, and tight end Travis Kelce. Kansas City’s defense might also ensure Mahomes needs to throw for four quarters.
