NFL power rankings, Week 8: Bucs, Rams roll with ease

In our NFL power rankings, the NFC is still looking at an undefeated team and a winless one, while the champs keep rolling.

16. Detroit Lions

You have to feel for Dan Campbell at this point. The Lions are playing hard but the results aren’t coming. It’s been a rough go in Detroit.

15. New York Giants

The Giants finally got off the proverbial deck and slammed the Panthers on Sunday. Now, they take on a wounded Chiefs team at Arrowhead.

14. Washington Football Team

The Football Team was supposed to be a contender for an NFC playoff spot, but the defense has fallen apart and the offense is hurting.

13. Philadelphia Eagles

Many thought the Eagles would be a frisky underdog this week, and then Raiders quarterback Derek Carr went 31-of-34 in an easy Las Vegas win.

12. Carolina Panthers

After starting the season 3-0, both the Panthers and quarterback Sam Darnold have cratered in a major way.

11. Seattle Seahawks

Seattle fought hard against the Saints, but Geno Smith was a problem.

10. Chicago Bears

Justin Fields isn’t doing much, the offense is doing less and the defense is begging to be torn apart this offseason. Not pretty.

9. San Francisco 49ers

Jimmy Garoppolo is back in the starter’s chair, but it’s not working. The Niners are 2-4 and looking like a team headed for a quick elimination from the playoff picture.

8. Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons are 3-3 and somehow moving up the NFL power rankings. Atlanta is doing a nice job of beating bad teams in recent weeks.

7. Minnesota Vikings

After being on a bye week, the Vikings are 3-3 and trying to make a move in the NFC North. Can the offense get humming?

6. New Orleans Saints

Wasn’t pretty, but the Saints won on Monday night and enter Week 8 at 4-2. Not bad.

5. Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys are playing some of the best football they’ve seen in Texas since the days of winning Super Bowls. This is a true contender.

4. Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers has the Packers at 6-1 despite myriad injuries. Green Bay now has a huge test against the Cardinals this Thursday.

3. Los Angeles Rams

Los Angeles is 6-1, Matthew Stafford is playing at an MVP level, and the Rams look the part of a contender. It’s been a great start.

2. Arizona Cardinals

The NFL’s only undefeated team. Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins are playing splendid football and the defense is one of the league’s best. Nobody saw the latter coming.

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tom Brady is leading the NFL in touchdown passes and yardage. The defense, despite a litany of injuries, is holding the fort. It’s a great first seven games for the champs.
