Zion Williamson Not ‘Fully Invested’ In Pelicans – JJ Redick
Former New Orleans Pelicans player JJ Redick says the ‘detached’ nature of superstar Zion Williamson as a teammate is ‘worrisome’.
His dedication was called into question during the All-Star weekend when CJ McCollum revealed he hasn’t spoken to Zion Williamson since being traded away from New Orleans.
On it’s own, that is not something to be overly concerned about. However, JJ Redick poured fuel on the fire on Tuesday by saying Zion Williamson is a poor teammate.
Zion has been out all season due to continuing complications with a right foot injury. It was hoped he may be available for the start of the season, but the rehab process is dragging on.

“There’s a responsibility that you have as an athlete when you play a team sport to be fully invested,” Redick said.
“You’re fully invested in your body, you’re fully invested in your work and you’re fully invested in your teammates. That is your responsibility, and we have not seen that from Zion.”
Nobody can question Zion’s production on the court. Last season, he played 61 games averaging 27 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists. However, after two seasons as his teammate, Redick still believes his attitude needs to improve.
“This is something I addressed with Zion in front of the team,” Redick said. “This is going back to his rookie year.”

“Yes, he’s been amazing when he’s been on the court — 100%. He’s amazing to watch. There’s no one that can do what he does on a basketball court … but as a teammate, there is a pattern of behavior, as a fully invested individual in New Orleans, there’s a pattern of behavior,” Redick said. “This is worrisome.”
