Cowboys find Ezekiel Elliott’s replacement in Ronald Jones
The Dallas Cowboys remain the busiest team in the league retooling their roster ahead of the 2023 season.
The Cowboys further secured their backfield by inking veteran running back Ronald Jones to a one-year deal.
Jones will effectively replace former Pro Bowler Ezekiel Elliott as a  factor in the backfield. The 25-year-old played last season with the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, where he recorded 70 rushing yards on 17 carries and a touchdown along with one reception for 22 receiving yards.

He’s two years removed from his best campaign, where he posted 978 rushing yards on 192 attempts with seven touchdowns with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In five seasons, he has recorded 2,244 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns.
His production has since declined. Although he has shown to be a big-play factor, which could make him a key offensive cog.
Jones will provide the Cowboys with depth in the backfield, especially with Pro Bowler Tony Pollard recovering from surgery to repair a fractured fibula. Dallas expected Pollard to be ready to go before the 2023 season. Now Jones’ presence gives the team much-needed stability.

The Cowboys remain steady adding more talent after two under-the-radar trades last week. The front office swooped in to acquire star cornerback Stephon Gilmore and veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks for third-day draft picks.
The team also retained defensive end Dante Fowler and linebacker Leighton Vander Esch on one-year deals. Outside Donovan Wilson returned on a three-year $21 million contract.
