Ravens QB Lamar Jackson tries to set the record straight about last season
Since the end of the 2022 season, there remains uncertainty around star quarterback Lamar Jackson’s future with the Baltimore Ravens.
The former league MVP has the opportunity to further clarify things via social media. One of which centers on his injury issues last season that prevented him from playing in the Ravens’ playoff game.
“Let’s get real. I rather have a 100% PCL than go out there and play horrible forcing myself to put my guys in a bad situation now that’s selfish to me,” Jackson tweeted Tuesday night via ESPN.

He missed the last several weeks of the regular season due to the PCL injury. Jackson didn’t make progress toward a full recovery, which prevented him from taking the field.
After he suffered the injury on Dec. 4, the initial belief was that he would miss two to three weeks. However, he was sidelined for the final six games, including the playoff game loss against the Cincinnati Bengals.

There remains disgruntlement from the Ravens’ fanbase due to his absence, but he dealt with a serious injury that could have led to other significant health issues.
It is easy to point to Jackson’s contract situation as the sole reason for his decision not to play, but a setback would be far worse. He can move forward without health issues and guide the Ravens or another franchise in 2023 and well beyond that.
Until the Ravens resolve Jackson’s lingering contract situation, the organization will be stuck without a strong sense of direction ahead.
