Dak Prescott believes Aaron Donald is the same player he’s always been

The Dallas Cowboys are fresh off their bye week with a tough Week 8 matchup ahead against the Los Angeles Rams.

Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense will have the difficult task of game planning against Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald. In the days before the matchup, Prescott made certain to underline Donald’s undiminished skill.

“S**t yeah he is. Yeah, he is,” Prescott said via Jon Machota of The Athletic. I’ve got to play him this week, of course he is. Yeah, he’s still the focus. That guy, I don’t know, what is it, three (NFL) Defensive Player of the Year (awards)?

“A player of a generation. Having played against him now for a while, he can ruin a game. So you’ve got to give him focus. Give him credit because he deserves that. He’s a hell of a player. Yeah, he hasn’t lost a step. Yeah, he’s still Aaron Donald.”

Donald has put together a first-ballot Hall of Famer career, but he’s missed significant playing time the last two seasons. He played in 11 games in 2022 and seven games last year due to an ankle sprain.

Although he has only 2.5 sacks in the first seven games, he has remained an extremely disruptive factor along the defensive line. Donald is tied for the league lead for defensive tackles with 29 pressures on the quarterback.

The sack total numbers may not be there, but Donald is still making a significant impact every week. If the Cowboys hope to move past the Rams, limiting the three-time Defensive Player of the Year sits at the top of the list.
