Kirk Cousins says ‘dollars’ isn’t a major factor on re-signing with Vikings
Pro Bowl quarterback Kirk Cousins is heading toward his contract with the Minnesota Vikings expiring, but his intentions remain committed to the franchise.
Cousins voiced that he desires to re-sign with Minnesota which could go as far as him giving the organization a hometown discount to work out a new deal.
“That’s a great question and one I’ve thought about pretty much my whole 12 years,” Cousins said via ESPN. “I do think it’s important to be aware of. I think that God has blessed me financially beyond my wildest dreams. So at this stage in my career, the dollars are really not what it’s about.”

He has spent the last six seasons with the Vikings, where he has comfortably been the franchise quarterback. Cousins was amid another highly productive campaign this season, posting 2,331 passing yards, 18 touchdown passes to five interceptions, and held a 103.8 passer rating in eight games before suffering a season-ending torn Achilles tendon.
Although Cousins holds a strong desire to remain with Minnesota, the Achilles injury could alter the franchise’s plans ahead under center. However, he could likely be ready to go well before the 2024 season, erasing any concern about his availability.

Cousins has been a strong source of consistency for the Vikings, but there could be other teams vying for his services. He remains one of the league’s most productive quarterbacks who has plenty left in the tank to play at a high level.
What it could come down to is Minnesota’s efforts toward getting a new deal done with the 35-year-old.
