Packers QB Jordan Love ready to deal with pressure of new deal
The Green Bay Packers are locked in with rising star quarterback Jordan Love as their long-term future under center after agreeing to a four-year, $220 million extension that includes a $75 million signing bonus.
With the new massive deal comes lofty expectations, but this isn’t something that Love is afraid to take head-on.

“Being a first-round pick, there’s pressure,” Love said Saturday following his first practice of training camp via ESPN. “Becoming the starter, there’s pressure, but there’s always pressure. I think that’s, you know, part of the job that we sign up for. You’ve got to find ways to deal with that pressure and handle it as best you can to be the best player you can be every day.
“But there’s always pressure. There’s no hiding that. … I’ve been in some great pressure situations, so I think there’s always going to be that. But just finding a way to navigate through this and handle it best I can.”
Love’s new deal puts the bar high for him to prove that he can be the next franchise quarterback who pushes the Packers toward sustained success. There were plenty of ups and downs in his first year as the starter, but he managed through those struggles to push Green Bay to the playoffs.

All that amounted to him leading the team past the Dallas Cowboys in convincing fashion on the road. Green Bay nearly upset the San Francisco 49ers on the road, which further underlined the bright future ahead of the franchise with Love at the helm.
The pressure will be there for him to lead the charge, but for now, only time will tell if he is worth his massive new contract.
