Cowboys finally sign CeeDee Lamb to massive contract extension

After several weeks of uncertainty, the Dallas Cowboys finally secured the long-term future of star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. Lamb’s four-year, $136 million deal makes him the second-highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.

The contract features $100 million guaranteed along with a $38 million signing bonus, the biggest total for a wide receiver. Lamb is in the final year of his rookie contract, which has a fifth-year option. He will be paid $17.99 million for the 2024 season as a result.

The new deal also makes him the highest-paid wide receiver in franchise history, surpassing the five-year, $100 million deal with $40 million fully guaranteed Amari Cooper received in 2020.

Lamb’s $34 million per year on the new deal is behind only Minnesota Vikings’ Justin Jefferson, who is making $35 million a season. He is ahead of Philadelphia Eagles’ A.J. Brown’s $32 million per season. That’s followed by Detroit Lions‘ Amon-Ra St. Brown at $30.003 million and Miami Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill at $30 million.

Lamb earned his historic contract with his continued emergence into one of the league’s best wide receivers. He’s coming off his best campaign, where he posted career-best numbers with a league-high 135 catches, finished second with 1,749 receiving yards, and third with 12 touchdowns.

He has notched more than 1,000 receiving yards in each of the last three seasons. As well as that, he has more than 100 receptions for the last two consecutive years.

The 25-year-old will continue to be the Cowboys’ top offensive factor as Pro Bowl quarterback Dak Prescott’s primary target in the passing game.
