Raiders ownership may impact Tom Brady’s new career
Future first-ballot Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady is set to begin his first year in the broadcast booth. However, there could be a major snag that heavily impacts his new role. Tom Brady is potentially about to be approved to become the part owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.

If the league allows Brady to hold partial ownership, it would force him to abide by unique and significant restrictions. Several factors would come into play. He would not be allowed to be in another team’s facility, witness practice, or attend broadcast production meetings.
If that were to be the case, it could severely impact his performance in the broadcast booth, as those components play a major part in preparing to cover games.
Brady would also have to follow other restrictions, like being unable to publicly criticize game officials and other teams. He would be subject to the NFL’s gambling policy and need to abide by the league’s anti-tampering policies.

In other words, if Brady gets his part ownership of the Raiders, it would prevent him from genuinely excelling in his new role. Fox is banking on him being a big part of their broadcast booth future for the next decade behind his 10-year, $375 million deal.
Brady’s bid for ownership remains stuck in the NFL’s finance committee and will require approval from at least 24 of the 32 team owners. There remain a few hurdles to clear, but things could become very interesting if it moves through those steps.
