Vikings reveal concern level about Sam Darnold’s knee injury

The Minnesota Vikings are off to a blazing start to the 2024 season, moving to an undefeated record through the first three weeks behind quarterback Sam Darnold’s stellar play.

However, Darnold’s health became a concern after the Week 3 blowout win over the Houston Texans due to a left knee injury. The Vikings are now breathing a sigh of relief, as tests only revealed a bruise and no structural damage, and he’s not expected to miss any time.

“It’s a little sore,” O’Connell said via ESPN. “But hoping Sam can have a normal week of preparation as we go through it.”

The injury happened with under four minutes left in the third quarter. Darnold was hit low by Texans defensive end Danielle Hunter and fell awkwardly on his knee. Minnesota will move forward cautiously ahead of the Week 4 showdown against NFC North division rival Green Bay Packers.

Darnold is off to an incredible start to the season, recording a league-best eight touchdown passes. The Vikings are one of six remaining undefeated teams.
