Antonio Pierce blasts Raiders for poor effort vs. Panthers

After the Las Vegas Raiders fell to a crushing Week 3 loss to the Carolina Panthers, head coach Antonio Pierce blasted his team’s lackluster performance.

“As the game went on,” Pierce said, “I think there was definitely some individuals that made business decisions. And we’ll make business decisions going forward, as well.

“We got our ass whupped … I would have booed us too.”

The Panthers, led by veteran quarterback Andy Dalton, dominated on the road behind an impressive outing, completing 26-of-37 passes for 319 yards with three touchdowns. He is the only quarterback this season to post a game with at least 300 passing yards and three touchdown passes.

Carolina posted 406 total offensive yards while converting on 3-of-5 red zone opportunities. The Panthers held as much as a 33-7 edge before two late touchdown drives by the Raiders.

Las Vegas entered the game after an impressive win over the Baltimore Ravens, making the subpar performance against the Panthers that much more puzzling.

“We’ve got a lot of people that have to look in the mirror,” said Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby. “Everybody’s got to continue getting better. It’s not the end of the world, but it’s a wake-up call, you know what I mean? We’ve got to be better. Period. Simple as that.”

As disappointing a loss as it was for the Raiders, there is an opportunity to bounce back in Week 4 at home against the Cleveland Browns, who are coming off a discouraging home loss against the New York Giants.
