Cowboys QB Dak Prescott to ‘miss several weeks’ with hamstring injury

The 2024 NFL season is spiraling out of control for the Dallas Cowboys, with the team coming off a third straight loss to a superior NFC opponent, the Atlanta Falcons, and now will have to play without star quarterback Dak Prescott under center.

During the loss to the Falcons on Sunday, Prescott went down with a hamstring injury, forcing backup quarterback Cooper Rush to finish the game. The injury appears to be a bit more severe than initially reported, as he is now expected to miss several weeks, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is expected to miss several weeks with a hamstring injury, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday.

This is a devastating blow for the Cowboys, who are already going through a rough season, as it may very well cost the team a chance to make a run at a playoff spot in the NFC.

Prescott talked about when he suffered the injury via ESPN.

“I felt it when I was getting up from the run,” Prescott said Sunday. “I can’t even say that I felt it running. The tackle, maybe something on the tackle. Yeah, I don’t know, but when I was standing up, I felt something actually. Didn’t think it was much. You get tired. It’s a physical game. A lot of times you feel different things and they kind of go away.”

Along with losing Prescott for the next several games, the Cowboys also saw superstar wide receiver CeeDee Lamb suffer an injury as well, but fortunately, it wasn’t as severe as Prescott’s via ESPN.

Cowboys star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, meanwhile, has a sprained AC joint, a source told Schefter. Though Lamb’s shoulder is sore, the injury is not considered serious, and he is expected to have a chance to play Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Unless Rush turns out to be the boost the team needs offensively, the rest of the season will be rough, to say the least.
