Caleb Williams claims he feels the support of Bears teammates

The Chicago Bears’ persistent offensive struggles have led to the firing of offensive coordinator Shane Waldron while bringing forth concerns with rookie quarterback Caleb Williams.

Reports emerged that a few Bears players preferred backup Tyson Bagent to take over the starter duties. Despite that, the USC product voiced that his teammates have expressed their support.

“I think those guys are good, easy. We talk about it,” Williams said via ESPN. “I think I got full support from them. I’ve gotten texts or calls or people coming up to me, with this situation that just happened, and saying, ‘We got your back, we’re with you.’ You know, things like that and ‘Let’s go.’ That kind of mindset and attitude has been what it’s been this past couple days. And that’s kind of what it’s only been.”

The firing of Waldron has piqued the conversation around the growing concern regarding Williams’ stagnant performance. As the weeks passed, he struggled to grasp the importance of showing steady improvement.

The Bears have struggled to take a step forward after the disappointing last-second loss to the Washington Commanders. The hope is that the change in offensive playcalling can shift things back toward the right direction that they were experiencing after a 4-2 start in the first six games.

Chicago’s three-game skid has put them a bit behind the eight ball, but there is enough time to push its way into playoff contention. All that must start with Williams getting the offense back on track.
