Commanders re-sign veteran LB Bobby Wagner
The Washington Commanders retained a key piece of their defense after 10-time Pro Bowl linebacker Bobby Wagner agreed to a one-year deal worth $8 million.
Wagner can earn up to $9.5 million in 2025, which keeps him in place to anchor the Commanders’ defense.
The 34-year-old is coming off another highly productive campaign, recording a team-high 132 total tackles with two sacks that earned him his 10th Pro Bowl nod and a second-team All-Pro selection. He recorded 25 total tackles with 0.5 sacks in the three playoff games.
It marked the 11th time in his career that he made an All-Pro team, and he notched 100 or more tackles for the 13th consecutive season, tying him with former Commanders linebacker London Fletcher for the second-longest streak in league history.
Wagner fit seamlessly into the Commanders’ defense and was a key factor in helping the team make a deep playoff push. He was a key part of the franchise’s turnaround, reaching the NFC championship game for the first time since 1991.
Washington hopes to build off their success toward pushing toward Super Bowl contention. Wagner brings dependable production and leadership that is much needed to move the franchise forward.
It marks the second significant move for the Commanders this offseason, following the recent acquisition of former Pro Bowl wide receiver Deebo Samuel from the San Francisco 49ers.
