Players to Watch 2013-2014
We already covered the incoming freshman that we will have to watch this coming NCAA basketball season. However, there are some other players who are either second year freshmen or older who will bet getting their chance to step up and shine.
Naadir Tharpe – Kansas
Kansas has five new starters. All of them are worth of watching. However, none of them would be worth anything if they don’t have Naadir Tharpe to help facilitate the pace of the game.
Tharpe has already shown that he is an incredible talent when playing backup PG for the exiting Elijah Johnson. Tharpe averages 5.5 points and 3.1 assists a night. Tharpe is going to a PG will that will lead Kansas back into the NCAA tournament.
LaQuinton Ross – Ohio State
LaQuinton Ross of Ohio State only played about 16 minuets a game, but did he ever impress every time he got to play those 16 minuets. The 6’8” forward averaged 8.3 points a game, though it was not unusual for him to put up over 15 points a game. Ross is going to be seriously potent weapon for the Buckeyes this season.
Sam Dower – Gonzaga
Sam Dower has been expected to do great things for over a year now. Dower wound up sitting the bench last season when he was expected to play thanks to Kelly Olynyk having a great season. With Olynk moving onto the NBA, Dower will now get his chance to show what he can do.
For when he did get to play, Dower averaged 6.9 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. He has the physical attributes, at 6’9†and 255 lbs, and all the talent needed to be one of the best big men in the NCAA.
