Best Odds At World Series Win With Teams That Have Clinched Division
Three teams in the MLB have clinched their division.
Over in the AL The Baltimore Orioles have found themselves on top of a division that early in the second half was one of the most highly contested division in the league.
Staying in the American League, out west the Los Angeles Angels easily took their division, with the closet team being the Oakland Athletics, who are 11.5 games behind them.
Last, over in the NL East the Washington Nationals took the division, thanks in large part to the Atlanta Brave falling a part due to injuries in the second half of baseball.
These three teams are now obvious favorites to win the World Series, but who has the best future odds according to the sports books?
3. Baltimore Orioles 13/2
The Baltimore Orioles have not won their division since 1997 and the AL East is historically hot in the playoff, but they have the third best odds to win the World Series among the three teams to already clinch their division. They have only the fourth best odds of winning the World Series overall. In other words they are racing from behind, as far as favorites go.
The Orioles are the better sluggers out of the lot. They have a .165 ISO overall as a team. However, their pitching is not as strong as the Angels and Nationals and as the cliché goes, “pitching wins ball games.â€
2. Washington Nationals 6/1
The Nationals look a whole lot like the Baltimore Orioles on paper, except slightly better. They rank in the top five in several offensive categories, as are the Orioles, but pitching give them the slight edge.
There is of course the potential that both teams end up in the World Series facing off against one another but the odds are not really with this prediction.
1. Los Angeles Angels 5/1
After opening up as favorites to win the World Series in the preseason for the last two season, the Angels under performed. This season simply feels like it is there time.
The odds are not simply going on a gut feeling, though. The Angels are a talented ball club. They have a solid pitching staff but their true strength lies in their outstanding offensive line up.
In fact, the Angels 5/1 odds are not only the best among the teams that have clinched their division thus far, they are also the best among all the teams in the MLB.
