Thursday Night Football: Chiefs Favorites Over Raiders
The Kansas City Chiefs and the Oakland Raiders may be one of the most storied and fiercest rivalries in all of the NFL, but the line and predictions for Thursday Night Football are one sided, generously leaning toward the Chiefs.
The Chiefs are one of the hottest teams in the NFL at the moment. They are 8-2 against the spread and 5-0 straight up and against the spread since losing to the San Francisco 49ers due to an Alex Smith pick.
They are the 7.5-favorites against the Raiders. With important games against the Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals in the coming weeks, one would think that this should be a game that the Chiefs will need to take it easy, but this is a division rivalry game after all.
The Raiders have been less than impressive this season and that is being generous. Oakland is winless. In fact, this week marks one year since their last win.
Oakland will not be pushovers, though. They played tough against the San Diego Chargers last week and are 5-5 against the spread, meaning covering the 7.5 points is not out of the question.
However, the Raiders are 2-5 against the spread in their last seven division games. They are also 0-4-1 against the spread in their last five home games against team with a winning record.
The total is set at 42.5. Kansas City only recently broke a five-game under streak. However, they only squeaked past the over. The total was set at 43.5 and they beat the Seattle Seahawks, 24-20, going over by .5 points. The Raiders are 4-1 on the over in their last five games, but the Chiefs have gone under 16 times in their last 23 games against the Raiders.
The game starts at 7:25 p.m. ET on the NFL Network.
