Adam Gase and Miami Dolphins Part Ways

Per NFL.com, the Miami Dolphins fired coach Adam Gase on Monday as a result of a disappointing season.

After making an encouraging start, Adam Gase failed to improve the Miami Dolphins team, and they fell away.

In his first year with them, Adam Gase led the Dolphins to the playoff appearance with a 10 – 6 record. However, the following two years produced a 13 – 19 record. After starting the 2018 season 3 – 0, Miami fell to a 7 – 9 record. Gase’s overall record over three years in Miami is 23 – 25.

It appears Sunday’s 42 – 17 defeat to the Buffalo Bills was the final straw for team owner Stephen Ross. It concluded a three game losing streak that ended their season, including a disappointing 17 – 7 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

“I want to thank Adam for his hard work and dedication to the Miami Dolphins,” Ross said in a statement.

“These decisions were not easy as he gave everything he had to the organization. I wish him and his family the best going forward.”

Gase’s firing paved the way for further changes in the Miami Dolphins. General manager Chris Grier will now oversee football operations. Grier will lead the search for a new coach, while executive VP of football ops Mike Tannenbaum has been reassigned.

“I am excited about having Chris lead our football operations going forward,” Ross said.

“I want to build a championship organization and I’ve fallen short of that so far. I know I need to take a different approach and I’ve learned that we need a more streamlined structure for accountability and a longer term view on our decision-making. Chris is highly respected throughout football and is an unselfish, team-first leader who knows the game. We need to add to our core of young players and build something special over the long-term and I believe in Chris.”
