Anthony Davis: I’ll Be Back At It Next Year
Anthony Davis says injuries and trade speculation are beyond his control as he and the Lakers conclude a poor season.
The Lakers acquired Anthony Davis three years ago from the New Orleans Pelicans. He was the missing piece of the puzzle at the time and the perfect partner for LeBron James. He helped the Lakers to win the Championship while playing 62 of 71 regular season games.
Anthony Davis was rewarded with a five-year, $190 million contract extension. However, since then he has missed 76 of 152 games, which is exactly half.
Given the Lakers are officially out of the postseason, rumors about the futures of the players and coach abound.Â

While frustrated, Davis says his injuries have not been down to mistakes or a lack of effort.
“My job is to be on the basketball floor and play games,” Davis said. “When I’m healthy, I’m a motherf—er. But I got to stay healthy. Unfortunately it was two injuries I couldn’t control this year but I’ll be back at it next year and see what happens.
“I had no injuries this year where it was, ‘Damn, that’s AD’s fault,'” Davis said. “Someone falls into my leg, sprains my MCL. The same exact thing [Kevin Durant] had.”
On the speculation about the team trading him away, Davis again says it’s out of his hands.

“I can’t control those things,” Davis said.
â€That’s an upstairs thing. A Klutch, Rich Paul thing. My agency.
“I mean, my job is to go out and play basketball. Obviously I love it in L.A. If that’s something that they’re considering, then we’ll have a conversation about it. I don’t know what they’re talking about, what’s the plan.”
“I mean, I don’t think they’re planning on doing anything [with me],” he said. “F—, I don’t know.”
