Big 12 Showdown Features Oklahoma at Baylor
Saturday the Big 12 will have the marquee game for  Week 11 of college football when the No. 11 ranked Oklahoma Sooners visit the No. 3 ranked Baylor Bears. The current line has Baylor favored by 3 points with the point total for the over/under sitting on 76.
On the season, Oklahoma comes into this game with an overall record of 8-1 straight up and 7-2 against the spread. The Sooners on the road are 3-0 SU and ATS. Baylor entering this game has an overall record of 8-0 SU and 4-3 ATS. The Bears at home are 4-0 SU and 2-1 ATS.
The past two weeks Baylor has been on the outside of the College Football Playoffs rankings looking in. The Bears this week are ranked No. 6 in CFP and host No. 12 Oklahoma. One reason the Bears are not in the top 4 is a season ending injury to star quarterback Seth Russell.
Oklahoma has just one loss on the season and that was on October 10 against Texas but since then has won four consecutive games outscoring its opponents by 182 points. The Sooners have scored 52 points or more in each game during their current four-game winning streak.
Last week was Baylor’s closest game of the season when they squeaked out a 31-24 victory against Kansas State. Jarrett Stidham the freshman quarterback started for the first time last week. He threw of a game high 419 yards with 3 touchdowns, while rushing for another.
Baylor’s winning streak at home of 20 games is the longest current one in the FBS.
Oklahoma won the first 20 games of this head-to-head series. However, the Sooners have lost three of the past four, including last season’s 48-14 loss at home.
Oklahoma has gained 600 yards or more of total offense in all of its past three games.
Oklahoma is 7-3 against the number in its past 10 games played in Baylor. The visiting team has covered the spread in 12 of the past 15 games between the two teams.
This game will come down to what defense can slow the opposing offense down. With both teams scoring exceptionally night, the game might even come down to what teams has the last possession.
Stidham is only a freshman and this is just his second start, but with his showing from past week versus K-State there should be no worries about his filling Russell’s shoes in this game.
Prediction: I like Baylor straight up.
