Isaiah Thomas Insists He’s ‘Not Damaged’ Goods In Kyrie Irving Trade

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics have yet to make their blockbuster trade involving Isaiah Thomas and Kyrie Irving official. The deal hit a snag with concerns about Thomas’ health, but the veteran guard claims he’s not damaged goods.

Thomas recently spoke with Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN to talk about his situation for the first time since the trade was announced.

“I am not damaged,” Thomas told ESPN on Tuesday. “I’ll be back, and I’ll be the same player.”

The perennial All-Star insists that his career in the league isn’t being derailed by these health concerns.

“There’s never been an indication that I wouldn’t be back, and there’s never been an indication that this is something messing up my career,” Thomas told ESPN. “Maybe I am not going to be back as soon this season as everyone wants me to be, but I’m going to be back, and I’m going to be the same player again. No doctor has told me anything different than that.”

Apparently, the trade still appears to be going through with a bit more compensation being given to the Cavaliers. The team may get another first-round pick out of the deal before officially comes to fruition.

Obviously, will all the uncertainty surrounding LeBron James’ future in Cleveland it isn’t all that surprising the team would want more from Boston if Thomas isn’t ready to play. Adding another pick out of the many in Danny Ainge’s storage shed isn’t a bad consolation considering the Celtics are getting a proven superstar with championship experience.
