A lot has happened over the past couple of months in the NBA. Star players have been traded left and right while big-name free agents have also changed teams. However, Carmelo Anthony, who was thought to be on his way out of the New York Knicks organization long ago, remains in the Big Apple awaiting his fate.

It has speculated over and over that Anthony is destined to be traded to the Houston Rockets play alongside Chris Paul and James Harden. Unfortunately, no deal has come to fruition and it appears no trade is even close, according to Ian Begley of ESPN.

As of last week, the New York Knicks were “not close” on any deal involving Anthony, per league sources. They’ve talked on and off with the Houston Rockets for much of the summer, but there’s been no recent momentum toward a deal.

Paul George, Jimmy Butler, Chris Paul, Isaiah Thomas, and Kyrie Irving have all been traded. It didn’t take long for any of those deals to come to fruition except for a hiccup in the Cleveland Cavaliers-Boston Celtics blockbuster.

The Anthony trade, on the other hand, seems very difficult to make. The Knicks want value in return which is something the Rockets can’t provide without a third team getting involved. Until that team emerges, Anthony may be stuck in New York.
