Kyle Lowry Breaks Michael Jordan’s Assist Record
Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry broke a Michael Jordan record during Monday’s 107 – 103 win over the Miami Heat.
With 5 assists in the game, Kyle Lowry moved into 4th place in the all-time assist charts. He now has a total of 5,634 assists. It was just enough to surpass Jordan, who had a total of 5,363.
Considering he is not far behind the rest, he could soon become the all-time assist leader in the NBA.
Ahead of him on the list are Chauncy Billups ( 5,636), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar ( 5,660) and Larry Bird (5,695).
Kyle Lowry is already the franchise leader in assists for the Toronto Raptors after he surpassed Jose Calderon in January.Â

As well as that, Lowry has an NBA Finals record to his name. He is the seventh player in history to have 25 points and 10 assists in a Finals-sealing win. That is another illustrious list, including Larry Bird, LeBron James, Walt Frazier, Micheal Jordan, Stephen Curry and James Worthy.
The Toronto Raptors are coming into form at just the right time, it seems. On Sunday, they beat the Lakers, who have just clinched the No.1 seed in the West by 107 – 92. They are not the favorites for the Championship this year, but they won’t let anyone forget that they are currently the reigning champions.Â

The win against the Miami Heat was their 6th straight, and Toronto holds the second seed in the Eastern Conference. It’s unlikely that they will overthrow the current top seed in the Milwaukee Bucks. However, they are the NBA’s form team heading into the playoffs which commence on August 17.
The Toronto Raptors next play on Thursday against the Orlando Magic.
