Lamar Jackson Breaks Michael Vick’s Rushing Record
When people remember the 2019 NFL season, they will remember that it was all about Lamar Jackson.
That’s because Lamar Jackson broke some records against the Jets on Thursday, and looks set to break more.
During Baltimore’s 42 – 21 win over the Jets, Lamar Jackson broke Michael Vick’s single-season rushing record for a quarterback.
Needing 23 rushing yards to break the record entering the game, Jackson finished with 86 yards on 8 carries. With two regular season games left, his total for the season is 1,103 rushing yards.
Michael Vick’s record of 1,039 rushing yards was set in the 2006 season.

“It’s pretty cool,” Jackson said after the game.
“My favorite player growing up. It’s amazing, and I’m gonna cherish that forever and just gotta keep it going. Records are meant to be broken, like he said, I heard him say that. It’s an honor for me to do it.”
As well as that, Jackson added 212 yards and five touchdowns through the air. This puts him on 33 touchdown passes on the season, the most in the NFL. It’s also tied for a Ravens franchise record set by Vinny Testaverde in 1996.
“Throwing ’em!” Jackson exclaimed.Â
“That’s amazing. That’s hats off to the tight ends, running backs, Pat Ricard the fullback, the receivers, because it’s them. They’re catching the passes and scoring the touchdowns.”

Before the Jets game, Jackson had rushed over 100 yards in four games, which is a league record. As well as that, he has the chance to finish the season with 1,000 rushing yards and a 100-plus QB rating.
If he ends the regular season smashing records, it will be the perfect preparation for the postseason push. There is not a team in the country that wants to face Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens in the playoffs.
