NBA: Warriors Roll Past Knicks
It was a year since Stephen Curry dropped 54 point in Madison Square Garden. Â At the time it was the third largest points scored up the Garden’s roof. Â However, Curry would drop to fourth when Carmelo Anthony put up some historic numbers of his own. Â Curry would get some redemption though by putting up a triple-double as the Golden State Warriors rolled past the New York Knicks with ease, 126-103.
Curry put up another Garden record as he joined an exclusive group of players who have had both a 50-point game and put up a triple-double in the garden. Â Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, Patrick Ewing and Bernard King are the only other players to accomplish that goal. Â Curry had 27 points in this game, pulled down 11 rebound and dished the ball out for 11 assists.
It was the fifth consecutive time the Knicks have lost. Â They have now dropped 11 games in their last 13 outings. Â Anthony shot 7 for 23 and put up 23 points and had 16 rebounds. Â Tim Hardaway Jr. chipped in 22 points and JR Smith had 17 points, but it was not enough to get past Curry and the Warriors.
Curry was helped out by 25 points from Klay Thompson and 15 points from Jermaine O’Neal.
The Warriors continue to move toward a post season run, as they improved their record to 36-23 which is good enough for sixth place in the Western Conference.
While there is still alot of basketball left to play, the Knicks post season is beginning to look dismal as they dropped to 21-38. With that loss the Knicks ended a rough month of basketball as they only won two out of 11 games in February.
The Knicks never really stood a chance in this game as the Warriors got out to an early 11 point lead and just continued to build upon it as the game went on.
The Knicks will next head to Chicago tomorrow to take on the Bulls. Â Meanwhile, the Warriors will also play tomorrow in what should be a good game against the Toronto Raptors.
