76ers Move On From Daryl Morey After Disappointing Finish
Following the Philadelphia 76ers’ second-round playoff exit, the organization decided to part ways with president of basketball operations Daryl Morey.
Morey spent six years at the helm with Philadelphia, where the team made the playoffs five times while holding a 270-212 record. However, the 76ers never moved past the second round of the playoffs.

His arrival was expected to help elevate the franchise toward championship contention after he helped land All-Star guard James Harden, but that quickly flamed out. He signed Paul George to a four-year, $211 million contract while giving star big man Joel Embiid a max extension.
“I have a tremendous amount of respect for Daryl personally and professionally, and I’m grateful for his contributions over the last six seasons,” Sixers managing partner Harris said in a statement via NBC Sports. “After speaking with Daryl, we determined that it was time for a fresh start. Bob Myers will lead the process of identifying a new leader and I believe his experience in constructing four NBA championship teams will be a valuable resource to our organization.
“To our fans, your frustration and disappointment are understandable and warranted. We have fallen well short of our own expectations and failed to deliver in the way this city deserves. That bothers me deeply and I have confidence in Bob to establish a path forward for our franchise.”
The 76ers will keep Nick Nurse as the head coach as they venture forward in a new direction in the front office. Former Golden State Warriors general manager and president of basketball operations, Bob Myers, is leading the charge to find Morey’s replacement while he’s temporarily guiding the team’s basketball department.
