Anthony Davis – One of the Greats
At 21 years old and in his second year as a player in the NBA, Anthony Davis is making a run to be one of the best players of all time.
Davis is extremely young in his career to be discussing the possibility of being in the Hall of Fame but with numbers so far this season like 25.5 points per game, 11.4 rebounds per game, 3.9 blocks and 2.3 steals, he is on par with players already in the Hall of Fame. When you look at the numbers that Davis has so far this season and what he put up last season, those numbers are comparable to some of the greats in the Hall of Fame – Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Hakeem Olajuwon, David Robinson and Bob McAdoo. He has already won two gold medals with the USA basketball team in Spain at the FIFA World Cup.
While it is early to predict that kind of career, Davis starting off this strong should be scary for the rest of the NBA because he is only going to get better. The Pelicans drafted Davis as the first pick in the 2012 draft. As they also look to grow for the future, the Pelicans need to continue to build a strong team around Davis. Recruiting talent and also investing in players to keep them around and so that other teams aren’t able to buy their talent.
Off the court, Davis has a fun personality, frequently playing pranks on un-expecting family and friends. In his college career at Kentucky, Davis won many awards including, unanimous first team All-American and the Consensus National Player of the Year. He also won Freshman, Defensive Player and Big Man of the Year.
