Jason Kidd fires back at ‘disrespectful’ Mavericks fans
The Dallas Mavericks shifted the organizational direction after parting ways with general manager Nico Harrison.
The move came nine months after Harrison decided to move star guard Luka Doncic in a stunning trade to the Los Angeles Lakers. It led to significant criticism and backlash from the fan base, with many calling for his firing.
Much of which recently saw fans chanting “Fire Nico!” as Mavericks players were shooting free throws, which drew ire from head coach Jason Kidd, a day after Harrison was let go.
“It was a little disrespectful,” Kidd said via ESPN. “The guys are playing hard, and they’re trying to win. With that chant going during free throws, it’s very disrespectful.
“They got their point across as fans, but we have to move forward. I understand the healing process for the fans, but these guys are playing hard. Ever since the trade, these guys have given everything.”
The optics of the Doncic trade have only grown more problematic as the Mavericks have stumbled to start the season. Dallas holds a 4-10 record while injuries have continued to pile up.

Star big man Anthony Davis is dealing with more nagging health issues as he’s working through a calf ailment. Davis is expected to be re-evaluated again in the next seven to 10 days.
The lone bright spot has been rookie Cooper Flagg’s promising play as he’s averaging 15.6 points and 6.7 rebounds while shooting 44.7 percent from the floor. He has scored in double figures all but once in the first 14 games, including notching four 20-point outings.
