Knicks Receive Major Development Before Eastern Conference Finals
When the New York Knicks take the floor for the Eastern Conference Finals, forward OG Anunoby is expected to be back from his hamstring injury.
Anunoby suffered the injury in the final minutes of Game 2’s win over the Philadelphia 76ers in their Eastern Conference semifinals matchup. The Knicks secured a series sweep despite his absence in the final two games.
He has shown progress in recent days, participating in practice on Wednesday but not in any live sessions.
Anunoby has been a huge part of the Knicks’ offensive game plan in the playoffs as the team’s second-highest scorer behind Jalen Brunson, averaging 21.4 points on 62 percent shooting from the floor and 53 percent from beyond the arc, along with 7.5 rebounds and 1.9 steals in eight playoff games.
His return will provide the Knicks with a significant offensive boost that will be needed in the Eastern Conference finals against either the Cleveland Cavaliers or the top-seeded Detroit Pistons.
The 28-year-old will have had a long recovery stretch as the Eastern Conference Finals could start as soon as Sunday, which is an 11-day span since he last played.

Even without Anunoby, the Knicks have looked every bit the part of an NBA title contender. New York moved easily past the 76ers behind their balanced offense led by Brunson, who is averaging 27.4 points on 48.5 percent shooting from the floor and 40.9 percent from 3-point range, along with 6.1 assists in 10 games.
