Suns’ Dillon Brooks set to miss time with broken left hand
The Phoenix Suns are set to be without guard Dillon Brooks after he suffered a broken left hand in Saturday’s double-overtime win against the Orlando Magic.
The injury occurred in the first quarter after posting five points and three rebounds. Brooks is out indefinitely as the team will undergo further tests on his hand to determine the duration of his absence.
He is amid a breakout campaign as he’s averaging a career-best 20.9 points and 3.7 rebounds while shooting 44.0 percent from the floor and 34.3 percent from beyond the arc. He has played a key part in pushing the Suns into the playoff picture alongside All-Star guard Devin Booker.
Despite his expected lengthy absence, head coach Jordan Ott voiced confidence that his team can play with the same grit with Brooks sidelined.
“The identity doesn’t change,” Ott said via ESPN. “Play the same style. Our defense is going to have to be better, offense is going to have to be better. … We’re just going to have to find new ways as things continue to progress.”
The Suns are already dealing with the injury bug, as Booker will miss at least one week due to a right hip strain sustained against the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday.

Grayson Allen has stepped up with an increased scoring role as he’s put up 20 or more points in each of the last four games. Meanwhile, Jalen Green has put forth more consistent production with double-digit scoring outputs in each game over that span.
