Tyrese Haliburton’s dad allowed to attend Pacers’ home games

As the Indiana Pacers took the court against the New York Knicks in Game 4 on Tuesday night, star point guard Tyrese Haliburton’s dad, John, was allowed in attendance.

It marked the first game he was able to attend after his on-court interaction with Milwaukee Bucks star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo on April 29.

The incident in question saw him go onto the court after the Pacers defeated the Bucks following Tyrese Haliburton’s go-ahead layup with 1.3 seconds left in overtime that gave his team the series-clinching victory.

This saw John walk in front of Antetokounmpo and taunt him in his face for several seconds. The Bucks star responded verbally, leading the two to eventually go physically head-to-head before being separated.

“Losing the game, emotions run high,” Antetokounmpo said via ESPN. “Having a fan — which at the moment I thought it was a fan, but then I realized it was Tyrese’s dad. Which I love Tyrese. I think he’s a great competitor.

“His dad coming on the floor and showing me his son — a towel with his face on [it], [saying] ‘This is what we do. We do this.’ I feel like that’s very, very disrespectful.”

Since then, he has missed the last eight playoff games after the Pacers’ front office barred him from attending any games. Although he was at Tuesday’s game, he is still prohibited from being at any road contests.
