Victor Wembanyama reacts to Spurs’ 5-0 record
The San Antonio Spurs, behind star big man Victor Wembanyama, are off to a blazing start to begin the 2025-26 season.
For the first time in franchise history, the Spurs have raced out to a 5-0 start to a season.
“It feels great,” Wembanyama said via ESPN. “It’s not random. We didn’t get those five wins randomly. We worked for it. We started this season strong, and we need to keep that streak going for as long as possible.”
The Spurs reached that mark after Wembanyama put forth another impressive performance with a team-high 26 points, 18 rebounds, six assists, and five blocks in a 107-101 win over the Miami Heat.
His outing against the Heat marked his third career game with at least 25 points, 15 rebounds, five assists, and five blocks, which puts him third all-time in Spurs history, trailing only Hall of Famers David Robinson (eight) and Tim Duncan (six).
The 21-year-old has been the guiding force to San Antonio’s promising start as he’s putting up MVP-like numbers with his elite play on both ends of the floor. In the first five games, he’s averaging 30.2 points, 14.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 4.8 blocks while shooting 56.3 percent from the field.

It includes him posting a double-double in each game while posting at least 20 points in every contest. He also joined Hall of Famer Bob McAdoo to average at least 30 points, 14 rebounds, and four blocks through the first five games of a season since blocks became official in the 1973-74 campaign.
