Warriors forward Andre Iguodala officially ruled out Game 1 of the NBA Finals

The Golden State Warriors have reached their fourth straight NBA Finals. They are looking to grab their second straight title and third overall over that span.

However, the team will have to venture into Game 1 of the series against the Cleveland Cavaliers without the services of veteran forward Andre Iguodala due to a leg contusion, according to ESPN.

The Golden State Warriors will continue to be without forward Andre Iguodala during Game 1 of the NBA Finals, the team announced Wednesday.

The 34-year-old has missed the last four games of the Western Conference Finals against the Houston Rockets. He had suffered a left lateral leg contusion that  is still causing him pain and inflammation. Iguodala is still on the mend. Although, he has voiced that he is nearing his return given he’s been out for the last two weeks.

During his tenure with the Warriors, Iguodala has played a huge part in their game plan. The team has benefited from his defensive presence and playmaking ability with the ball in his hands. His absence has forced head coach Steve Kerr to change the rotations a bit to compensate for what he brings.

In this year’s playoffs, Iguodala is currently averaging 7.9 points on 47.9 percent shooting from the field with 4.9 rebounds,  3.1 assists, and 1.4 steals in 27.5 minutes played per contest in 13 games with 12 starts made. In his absence, Kevan Looney has been drawing the start. Looney plays in a limited role, averaging 19.4 minutes in the Western Conference Finals.
