Warriors’ Steve Kerr, Draymond Green react to heated exchange

The Golden State Warriors put together an encouraging 120-97 win over the Orlando Magic on Monday night, but that wasn’t the center of the conversation.

The heated exchange between head coach Steve Kerr and Draymond Green in the third quarter during a timeout grabbed the headlines. It was a discussion that led Green to get up and head back to the locker room to avoid things from escalating.

After the game, Kerr addressed the situation, only going as far as stating that it was Green’s decision to head back to the locker room, but wouldn’t divulge more information.

“We had it out a little bit,” Kerr said via ESPN. “He made his decision to go back to the locker room to cool off. That’s all I’m going to say about it. Everything is private.”

Kerr added that he would not have put Green back into the game even if he had not gone back to the locker room to cool off. Meanwhile, the former All-Star forward stated that he felt he had to remove himself from the situation to prevent the matter from escalating further.

“Tempers spilled over, and I thought it was best that I get out of there,” Green said. “I don’t think it was a situation where it was going to get better. It was best to remove myself.”

This marked the second straight game that Green chose to leave early. He played in only eight minutes in Saturday’s win over the Phoenix Suns before he was ejected.
