Wizards Land Khris Middleton in Massive Six-Team Trade

The Washington Wizards continued their busy offseason by acquiring former All-Star forward Khris Middleton on a three-year, $17.6 million deal in a sign-and-trade with the Dallas Mavericks.

The move has evolved into a six-team transaction that also features the Memphis Grizzlies, LA Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Detroit Pistons. The Wizards are moving D’Angelo Russell, a 2029 second-round pick, a 2032 second-round pick swap, and a 2033 second-round pick to the Grizzlies.

Meanwhile, the Pistons are sending Caris LeVert and two second-round selections to the Bucks for Taurean Prince and Gary Harris. The Grizzlies are trading Santi Aldama and the draft rights to Tarik Biberovic to the Mavericks and three second-round picks to the Pistons.

The Clippers are trading John Collins to Detroit and giving cash to the Bucks. Lastly, the Mavericks are trading AJ Johnson to the Grizzlies, along with a 2030 conditional first-round pick and a 2029 second-round selection.

It is a move that involves several layers, providing each team involved with more roster depth and financial flexibility.

The Wizards have put together a highly productive offseason that could greatly shift their franchise forward, putting their roster in a much better spot than it was a year ago. Washington began its offseason by signing star point guard Trae Young to a four-year, $212.8 million deal that keeps him paired alongside fellow All-Star Anthony Davis.

It also features the first overall pick in this year’s draft, AJ Dybantsa, who will quickly step into a prominent role as a key contributor next season. There is plenty of promise for Washington to take a significant step forward as a factor in the East.
