#1 Syracuse and #2 Arizona in Action on Sunday

Syracuse’s suffocating defense was too much for the top-seeded Indiana Hoosiers.

The big day of the weekend in college basketball is normally Saturday. Sunday is more of an NBA day. But this week the top two ranked teams in the nation are playing on Sunday. The #1 Syracuse Orange is hosting the Clemson Tigers and the #2 Arizona Wildcats will host the Oregon State Beavers. Also in action on Sunday is #22 Connecticut Huskies who are on the road at the UCF Knights and the #12 Creighton Blue Jays who will visit the St. John’s Red Storm.

The Orange is one of two remaining unbeaten teams in Division I with the Wichita State Shockers being the other. Syracuse is in their first season of play in the ACC and are running roughshod over the traditionally brutal conference. Clemson at 15-6 could really help their NCAA Tournament resume with a win at the Carrier Dome.

The #2 Wildcats barely escaped in their last game, a three point win over the Oregon Ducks. The Cats have been in a lot of close games as of late and could use a blowout. The Beavers are not going to be that easy however. They beat the UCLA Bruins a week ago before dropping a close one to the Arizona State Sun Devils in midweek.

The Huskies will go on the road to Orlando to face the Knights who are reeling in AAC play. UConn is 5-4 in AAC play and is one of five teams from the league likely to make it to the NCAA Tournament. This would be the Huskies first trip to the Big Dance under head coach Kevin Ollie who replaced the legendary Jim Calhoun last season. They cannot afford a slip up at UCF.

The Blue Jays are performing greatly in their first season in the Big East. The Blue Jays are 9-1 tied for first with the Villanova Wildcats. The Red Storm is not likely in contention for the NCAA Tournament but a win over the Blue Jays would help them get to perhaps the NIT.
